A Day of One’s Own is part of a series of colourfield paintings inspired by the four seasons. This vibrant red painting captures the heat of summer with yellows and oranges to balance the red. It reflects our yearning for the sun.
The title is inspired by writer Virginia Woolf’s biography A Room of One’s Own. Woolf spent her childhood summers in West Cornwall where this work was created and would return as an adult to escape the heat of London.
